Manny Diaz is returning to Mississippi State as defensive corodinator

Louisiana Tech defensive coordinator Manny Diaz is stepping back into the power conference fold. After one year on the job with the Bulldogs, Diaz is changing his collar and moving to Mississippi State to take on the defensive coordinator job with the SEC West program.

Multiple reports have surfaced Monday afternoon with word Diaz will make the move from Louisiana Tech to Mississippi State, thus rejoining the program he spent one season with, in 2010. Diaz was a defensive coordinator and linebackers coach for Mississippi State in 2010 before taking on the same duties for Mack Brown at Texas from 2011 through 2013. His stint at Texas was often criticized and frustrating. Diaz was removed from his job as defensive coordinator early in the 2013 season after BYU destroyed the Texas defense in Provo. He was replaced by Greg Robinson, and he resurfaced at Louisiana Tech for the 2014 season. He proved to be a key member of the turnaround for the Conference USA runners-up.

In 2010 with Mississippi State, Diaz coached the nation’s 22nd best scoring defense and one of the top run defense sin the country.
