Stanford All-American OT Andrus Peat heading to NFL Draft

Stanford offensive tackle Andrus Peat has decided he will enter the NFL Draft this spring, forgoing his final year of eligibility with the Cardinal. The school announced the All-American tackle’s decision Tuesday.

“It’s been a long and hard decision, but I have decided to forgo my senior season of eligibility and declare for the NFL Draft,” Peat said in a statement released by Stanford’s athletics department. “I would like to thank all of my Stanford teammates, coaches and the faculty for helping me grow and enjoy an amazing experience at Stanford University. I’m excited and ready to take the next big step of my life.”

Peat moves on to the NFL a decorated student-athlete with multiple All-American honors and Pac-12 honors as the top offensive lineman in the conference. He has also started 27 consecutive games for the Cardinal, playing the role of an anchor behind a physical offensive unit since arriving on campus.

Peat has a good chance to hear his name relatively early in the draft, at least among offensive linemen. Peat is considered one of the top offensive lineman to be on the big board this spring, and any team in need of a solid tackle would seem to do well drafting the Stanford standout.
