Florida State DT Eddie Goldman joins group of Seminoles leaving early for NFL

With the decision deadline creeping up quickly, Florida State defensive tackle Eddie Goldman has reportedly decided to take the NFL plunge. Goldman will forgo his senior season in Tallahassee and will declare for the 2015 NFL Draft, joining a handful of other Florida State players in leaving early.

Goldman’s decision was first reported by Rand Getlin of Yahoo Sports, via Twitter.

Goldman was Florida State’s third-leading tackler on the defensive line in 2014 with 35 total tackles, 19 of which were solo tackles. He was also responsible for four sacks and eight tackles for a loss for the Seminoles. He forced one fumble as well and proved to be flexible for Florida State throughout the course of the stay in Tallahassee. He has played both defensive end and defensive tackle for the Noles, but may be expected to stick to defensive tackle at the next level given his 6'4", 320-pound frame.

Goldman was forced to leave the ACC Championship Game early due to an ankle injury but he returned in time for Florida State’s Rose Bowl match-up with Oregon. He is widely expected to go within the first two rounds of the NFL Draft.

Goldman joins quarterback Jameis Winston, defensive end Mario Edwards Jr., and cornerbacks P.J. Williams and Ronald Darby among the Seminoles leaving early for the NFL.
