It appears Ohio State’s quarterback conundrum may be about to become a little less crowded.
Thursday is the deadline for eligible players to decide whether or not they will make themselves available for the upcoming NFL draft. In a tweet posted to his personal Twitter account, Cardale Jones wrote that he will be announcing what he described as a “[l]ife changing decision at 3 pm” ET this afternoon.
Jones met earlier today with OSU head coach Urban Meyer and his high school coach, Ted Ginn Sr. Meyer will not attend the press conference, which will be held in Jones’ hometown of Cleveland.

It wouldn’t seem like returning to college would be a life-changing decision, so it appears the redshirt sophomore is ready to make the leap into the NFL after just three career starts. Those three starts, though, came in wins in the Big Ten championship game, and the College Football Playoff semifinal and title games.
Following the latter win, Jones left the pro door open before seemingly closing it again.
It should be noted that, even if Jones announces that he will be leaving early for the NFL, he would have 72 hours from the stroke of midnight tonight to change his mind, provided he hasn’t yet signed with an agent or a marketing firm.
