Remember what we said about crutin’ or crootin’ a couple of posts below this? Yeah, here we go again.
Not very many hours ago, Auburn landed a huge commitment from Byron Cowart, the consensus No. 1 player in the country who announced to a national television audience that he will play for the Tigers. As of 1 p.m. ET, however, Auburn has yet to receive a signed National Letter of Intent from Cowart.
ESPNU reports that Cowart is wavering and still has unsigned NLIs from Auburn and Florida in his hands. The intimation from the four-letter network monolith is that Cowart is seriously considering flipping to Florida.
Confusion, though, is reigning when it comes to this situation as there’s also the following:
Cowart texted me and said he left his signed letter with his coach to fax and isn't sure why it hasn't been faxed yet. #Auburn #WarEagle

Per coach Callahan at Armwood, Byron Cowart told him he was going to commit to #Auburn but not send in letter.

Auburn still has not announced Cowart's signing. Asked his mom, Lacoria Wilson, at announcement if they faxed the letter and she said yes.

As was the case with the Roquan Smith situation, stay tuned...
