UCLA’s been a hit on the recruiting trail throughout the day today, but Jim Mora‘s UCLA coaching staff has reportedly taken a significant hit. As has Brian Kelly‘s Notre Dame staff, too.
According to Alex Marvez of FOXSports.com, Bruins defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich is leaving Los Angeles to take a job on Dan Quinn‘s first coaching staff with the Atlanta Falcons. Specifically, Ulbrich will reportedly serve as linebackers coach.
From 2010-11, Ulbrich was with the Seattle Seahawks prior to coming to the Bruns in 2012. Quinn served as the Seahawks’ coordinator during that time.
Ulbrich has spent the past three seasons with the Bruins, and was promoted to coordinator in February of last year. This past December, amidst rumors that Mora could be in play for the Michigan job, Ulbrich expressed confidence that the head coach would remain with the Bruins.
In addition to Ulbrich, Marvez also reports that Irish quarterbacks coach Matt LaFleur is leaving South Bend for the same position with the Falcons. LaFleur just finished his first season at Notre Dame.
