Three Ohio State players’ careers lost to injury

Ohio State welcomed a crop of new players to the program on Wednesday, but three veteran Buckeyes could be on their way out. Head coach Urban Meyer told the assembled press that defensive backs Armani Reeves and Ron Tanner and linebacker Devan Bogard will step away due to injuries.

Reeves is likely the biggest loss, a starter at nickel back until missing a large portion of the second half of the season. He collected 14 tackles and four pass breakups while he was in the lineup.

“Those are big holes to fill,” Ohio State defensive backs coach and special teams coordinator Kerry Coombs said. “Depth is an issue for us right now on the back end.”

Bogard suffered three torn ACLs in three seasons, which forces him to end his career after just his redshirt sophomore season. Tanner, a reserve safety, contributed primarily on special teams.
