UGA WRs coach interviews for same job at LSU

It looks like Les Miles filling a hole on his LSU coaching staff could very well come at the expense of a fellow SEC member.

Citing a source close to the situation, the New Orleans Times-Picayune is reporting that Georgia wide receivers coach Tony Ball has interviewed for the same position at LSU. That interview took place earlier today, the Times-Picayune added.

A short time later, Ball himself confirmed to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that he is a candidate.

The La. paper writes that Ball is “the first confirmed in-person interview with coach Les Miles and the Tigers’ staff.” If Ball is hired, he would replace Adam Henry, who left Monday for a job with the San Francisco 49ers.

Ball has been an assistant on Mark Richt’s UGA staff since 2006, first serving as running backs coach (2006-08) before moving over to receivers in 2009. In addition to UGA, he’s also spent time on staffs at Virginia Tech (1998-2005) and Louisville (1995-97). He served as receivers coach at each of those stops.

Others mentioned as potential replacements include Keith Williams (Nebraska), Phil McGeoghan (Miami Dolphins), Jabbar Juluke (Louisiana Tech) and David Johnson (Tulane). None of those have interviewed for the position.
