Urban Meyer stuck at sea with 2,500 Ohio State fans

Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer was already planning on getting away for more than a three-hour tour, but his stay at sea may end up being a little longer than anticipated.

Meyer is on an annual fundraising cruise in the Gulf of Mexico with 2,500 Ohio State fans. The ship the Buckeye faithful have boarded got stuck in a patch of fog just outside the Tampa port. The Royal Caribbean ship was scheduled to return to port yesterday but was forced to stay about 20 miles off the coast until fog lifted. That is supposed to happen this evening according to the weather forecast.

“We are good. No worries,” Meyer said to The Columbus Dispatch via text message today. “We raised upward of $2 million for [The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center -- Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute]. However, we are ready to get home.”

I don’t know about you, but being stuck on a cruise ship initially sounds more appealing to me than being stuck on an airport runway or locked in gridlock traffic on the freeway.
