Miss. St. OL Elgton Jenkins arrested on assault warrant

It’s been a positively negative last week or so for Mississippi State off the field.

Star quarterback Dak Prescott and two Bulldog teammates were assaulted during a spring break concert in Florida last week. A couple of days later, De’Runnya Wilson, the team’s leading receiver in 2014, was arrested on a pair of weed-related charges.

With MSU’s spring practice set to start Wednesday, head coach Dan Mullen has yet another off-field incident with which to deal as sophomore Elgton Jenkins was arrested on a warrant for simple assault, the Jackson Clarion-Ledger reported. The arrest actually took place last Thursday; when the incident took place that led to the warrant being issued is a mystery.

“MSU Police refused to release any further information at this time, including an incident report, which is public record,” the Clarion-Ledger wrote.

MSU has not yet publicly addressed the situation or what if any punishment the player may be facing.

Jenkins took a redshirt his true freshman season in 2014. The offensive lineman was a two-star member of MSU’s recruiting class.
