Idaho’s schedule swap replaces Florida with Missouri in 2017

Idaho tried playing a game at Florida last season, but Mother Nature had other plans. Lightning led to the postponement of Idaho’s season opener against Florida in Gainesville last year, and the game was not rescheduled for later in the year. Idaho was to make a return trip in 2017, but now the Vandals will be playing Missouri instead.

The Tigers will host Idaho on October 21, 2017. Missouri will reportedly pay Idaho $1.3 million for a 2017 contest in Columbia, Missouri. Missouri owns the all-time series advantage against Idaho, winning both of the previous games played between the two schools. Missouri won a 1958 game by a score of 14-10. The two played again in 1963, with Missouri winning 24-0.

This also puts a future game between Florida and Idaho in limbo, at least for now.

Florida upheld its obligation to pay Idaho $975,000 as part of the contract for the 2014 game, and the two schools agreed to play a game in 2017. No date was locked in though, and now the future date of a game is to be determined. According to The Spokesman-Review, Idaho still intends to play at Florida in a future season.
