Jimbo calls out ‘soft’ FSU team that ‘better grow up’

Yes, it’s spring practice season. Yes, the real season doesn’t begin for another five months or so.

And, no, Jimbo Fisher doesn’t give a spit about your arbitrary time frames.

Monday, Fisher’s Florida State Seminoles, fresh off back-to-back seasons in which they won a national championship and then qualified for the playoffs in the next, conducted a scrimmage at Doak Campbell Stadium. To say that Fisher was disappointed in the performance and/or effort would be a significant understatement.

In fact, Fisher absolutely lit into his team post-scrimmage. From the Tallahassee Democrat:

“They better grow up,” Fisher said. “Bunch of young guys think they’re real good, and they ain’t close. Nowhere close. Got ability. Got to learn how to play with intangibles.

“A little bit soft as a team overall.”

...

“They didn’t play hard, didn’t compete hard or play with consistency,” Fisher said.

“It was good and bad, but you can’t play the way they played — up and down, pick your moments. You can’t play that way. That’s what losing teams do.”

Unless his current squad is tone deaf or social media bereft, Jimbo should consider his pointed and very public message resoundingly sent and received.
