One day after putting the finishing touches on spring practice 2015, South Carolina has landed a significant addition to their defensive secondary.
While South Carolina has yet to officially announce it, Isaiah Johnson took to Twitter Sunday to reveal that he will be playing his final season of college football for the Gamecocks. A month ago tomorrow, Johnson announced that he would be transferring from Kansas for what was described as personal reasons.
Because he’ll be coming to USC as a graduate transfer, and provided he enters a grad program not offered at KU, Johnson, a native of Cary, NC, will be eligible to play immediately in 2015.

While Johnson serves as a tremendous loss for the Jayhawks, it’s very much a boon for the Gamecocks.
Johnson started all 24 games the past two seasons at strong safety for KU. In 2013, he was named the Big 12’s Defensive Newcomer of the Year following a season in which he was second in the conference with five interceptions.
