Virginia replaces Stanford series with Indiana home-and-home

Virginia has rid itself of a future series against a fellow Power Five school, but, to UVa.'s credit, they’ve replaced them with another Power Five team. Sort of.

In a press release sent out Tuesday afternoon, Virginia announced that it has reached an agreement on future home-and-home series with Indiana. The Cavaliers will host the Hoosiers in Charlottesville Sept. 9, 2017, and then travel to Bloomington on Sept. 8, 2018.

IU replaces Stanford on UVa.'s schedule, with the school noting that "[a] scheduling conflict led to the cancellation of the games between the Cardinal and [Cavaliers].”

The football programs have only met twice in their histories, the first in 2009 (Charlottesville) and the last in 2011 (Bloomington). The Cavaliers won both games by a combined score of 81-38 -- a 47-7 rout in the first and a tight 34-31 finish in the second.
