Sean McQuillan, UConn’s starting TE, facing assault charge

For the fourth day in a row, we here at CFT are resetting the “Days Without An Arrest” ticker back to double zeroes.

They latest to do the resetting honors is UConn’s Sean McQuillan, who multiple media outlets are reporting is facing an assault charge stemming from a weekend incident. According to the Hartford Courant, the tight end was arrested very late Friday night and charged with second-degree assault and disorderly conduct following a fight with his roommate at their off-campus apartment complex.

The alleged victim sustained “significant facial injuries,” the police stated. No further details of what led up to the injuries have been made available.

The university is aware of the incident, but will take no action at this time.

"[W]e will wait for the judicial process to take its full course,” a spokesperson said in a statement. “In the meantime, Sean has a responsibility to finish out the semester academically

McQuillan has served as the Huskies’ primary tight end the past two seasons, starting 19 of the 20 games in which he played in 2013 and 2014. His 16 receptions and 158 receiving yards were second on the team.
