John Kenny second Hawkeye to announce transfer in a week

Searching for what he described as “a better fit,” Malik Rucker announced this past week that he will be transferring from Iowa. A few days later, one of Rucker’s teammates has done the same.

John Kenny (pictured, No. 47) has confirmed to AllHawkeyes.com that he has decided to transfer out of the football program. The move comes after he was moved from fullback to linebacker for the spring.

He was signed by the Hawkeyes as a lineback but was moved to fullback last season.

“Nothing happened (at Iowa),” Kenny told the website. “I just feel like it’s best for me to explore options.”

After taking a redshirt as a true freshman in 2013, he played in 11 games last season. He started two of the contests. While he had no rushing attempts, he did catch four passes for 27 yards.

Exiting spring practice, he wasn’t listed on the Hawkeyes’ two-deep depth chart.
