Pete Carroll to enter USC Athletic Hall of Fame, receive honorary degree

Win a couple national championships, win a Super Bowl and play for another one and - voila - doors start to open for you.

USC revealed Tuesday it will induct former coach Pete Caroll, among others that include Oakland Raiders head coach Jack Del Rio, into its athletic hall of fame on Saturday.

Carroll led USC on a run of dominance that only Bobby Bowden and Nick Saban have matched in this era of college football, leading the Trojans seven straight top four finishes, at least a share of seven straight Pac-10 crowns, seven straight BCS bowls, three straight national championship appearances and two AP national titles (the Trojans’ 2004 BCS title was stripped following an NCAA investigation into improper benefits received by running back Reggie Bush).

A Pacific graduate, Carroll will also receive an honorary degree from USC as well.

Oh, Carroll will also be the subject in the latest round of ESPN’s “30 for 30" documentary series, of which his USC years will no doubt serve as a major chapter.
