Asiantii Woulard’s transfer cuts UCLA QB race down to three

UCLA head coach Jim Mora may not have been in a hurry to name a starting quarterback for the 2015 season, but now he has one less candidate to consider. Asiantii Woulard announced Wednesday via Twitter he will be transferring from the UCLA program.

With Woulard heading out, the remaining options for UCLA to succeed Brett Hundley include Jerry Neuheisel, Mike Fafaul and Josh Rosen. Rosen is an early enrollee. The spring game ended with none of the four contenders separating from the rest of the competition. None of UCLA’s quarterbacks managed to lock in and provide any consistency when getting a chance to run the offense, and a number of targets were overthrown from all passing candidates.

If Woulard transfers to another FBS program, he will have to sit out the 2015 season before being eligible once again in 2016.

After much thought, I’ll be transferring from UCLA. Thankful for the opportunity & great experience, now looking forward to a new beginning.
