Uh oh: Jim Harbaugh is not familiar with Paul Finebaum

Sound the alarms, everyone: That Yankee satellite camp coach from Ann Arbor doesn’t know who a prominent southern figure is.

That’s right: Jim Harbaugh doesn’t know anything about Paul Finebaum.

From AL.com:

Harbaugh looks confused and shakes his head. He doesn’t know who Paul Finebaum is.

The coach continues, “He’s a radio show host.”

Again, nothing from Harbaugh.

“He’s a big deal down here in SEC country,” another coach chimes in.

Harbaugh nods. He asks about what they discussed and quickly moves on to something else. If the most popular radio show host in SEC country is talking about him, he doesn’t seem to care.

Part of Harbaugh’s silence, explains AL.com’s John Talty, is that Michigan’s SID is skittish about the first-year coaching answering questions relating to satellite camps due to a fear of a comment that could be an NCAA violation.

But then again, Finebaum’s rise to national prominence only has happened recently, when his move to ESPN gifted Phyllis, Tammy and the show to the rest of America. During that time, Harbaugh was coaching the 49ers out in California and in all probability wasn’t stumbling across rants about Johnny Manziel or Danny Kanell.

Harbaugh, though, could do well to learn who Finebaum is so he can take shots at him during press conferences like a certain South Carolina coach.

Spurrier: “I heard @Finebaum picked ‘em to win by 25 points. He picked Alabama to beat Oklahoma by 25 too. He misses a lot.”
