Michigan football staffer charged with drunken driving charge

Michigan’s Jim Minick, associate athletics director for football, has already been reinstated by the university following his late night drunk driving accident last month, but now the legal trouble truly begins. Minick was charged with one count of operating a vehicle while intoxicated on Wednesday.

Minick was involved in a late night automobile accident in May, which prompted the university to temporarily suspend him from the program. He was reinstated from his suspension nearly four weeks later, before the charges were officially filed. The possible reason for the delay in the filing of the charges may have stemmed from the police waiting for the results of a toxicology report to come back. As previously reported, Minick refused to partake in a breathalyzer test at the scene of the accident. Charges could not be filed without a blood test otherwise.

No other vehicles were involved in Minick’s accident, so nobody was injured. Minick is due for an arraignment on July 1.
