Kentucky to be landing spot for Ohio State transfer, per report

It looks like it did not take very long for transferring Ohio State offensive lineman Marcelys Jones to find a new football home. As initially expected by some, Kentucky looks to be the choice for Jones.

Matt Jones of Kentucky Sports Radio reports, via Twitter, the former Army All-American has indeed committed to Kentucky. No official word from Kentucky has come at this time, but Kentucky was expected to be a leading candidate for Jones once he opted to leave Ohio State on what was reported as a mutual decision. Jones visited Kentucky yesterday and met with Kentucky head coach Mark Stoops and recruiting coordinator and tight ends coach Vince Morrow.

As is typical in NCAA transfers, Jones will have to sit out the 2015 season before being ruled eligible to play once again in 2016 due to transfer rules. At that time he should be ready to compete for a starting job on Kentucky’s offensive line.
