Mich. St.'s Jalyn Powell will reportedly transfer to Youngstown State

It appears that Mark Dantonio‘s loss will be Bo Pelini‘s gain.

Citing a pair of sources with knowledge of the situation, Mike Griffith of mlive.com is reporting that redshirt sophomore Jalyn Powell will be transferring out of the Michigan State football program. Powell’s new college football home is also reportedly known: Youngstown State.

Because Pelini’s Penguins play at the FCS level, Powell will be eligible to play immediately in 2015. The defensive back will have three seasons of eligibility remaining.

A three-star member of MSU’s 2013 recruiting class, Powell took a redshirt as a true freshman. He appeared in nine games in 2014.

According to Griffin, Powell was slated to serve as a backup linebacker this season.
