Purdue’s top WR medically cleared to resume all football activities

Nearly eight months after a serious injury cut his 2014 season short, Danny Anthrop has cleared a rather significant health hurdle.

According to the Indianapolis Star, Anthrop has been medically cleared to resume all football-related activities. The wide receiver sustained a torn ACL in the fourth quarter of an early-November loss to Nebraska and, obviously, missed the remainder of the 2014 season.

In mid-February, Anthrop stated he was ahead of schedule in his recovery; four months later, the receiver is fully participating in summer workouts ahead of the start of summer camp.

“For me right now, this is when the work begins,” Anthrop told the Star. “I have to test the waters.”

Anthrop was easily the Boilermakers’ leading receiver in yardage at the time of the injury, topping the team with 616 (No. 2 was at 218). His 38 receptions, four receiving touchdowns and 16.2 yards per catch were also tops on the team.

He ended up leading the team in three of those categories (yardage, ypc and TDs) and second in the other (receptions) despite missing a quarter of the season.
