Pitt receiver Tyler Boyd given probation for DUI

Wide receiver Tyler Boyd, one of the top players in the ACC, has rejoined the Panthers after being sentenced to 12 months of probation following a driving under the influence charge filed against him.

The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reported Friday Boyd was handed the lenient sentence from Common Pleas Judge Robert C. Gallo. Boyd will be required to take a safe driving class and had his licence suspended for 90 days. He has already rejoined the Pitt program with new head coach Pat Narduzzi. Narduzzi said any further punishment to be served by Boyd will be handled internally.

Boyd is the ACC’s leading receiver returning in 2015 after going for 1,261 yards and eight touchdowns last fall. Boyd was just named to the first team All-ACC preseason team by the media, receiving more votes than any other ACC receiver this past week at the ACC Football Kickoff.
