UNC defensive back Malik Simmons suspended following second arrest of summer

For the second time this summer, North Carolina defensive back Malik Simmons has been arrested. He has now been suspended indefinitely by UNC head coach Larry Fedora, the school announced in a brief statement Friday afternoon.

The official statement from UNC’s athletics office says simply Simmons committed a violation of team rules. However, there are multiple outlets reporting Simmons has been arrested for resisting arrest during an incident on Wednesday. A police report shows Simmons paid a $1,000 bond and has been released. Already facing a charge for misdemeanor marijuana possession, things do not look great for his future in Chapel Hill. Simmons is due in court on Tuesday for the previous marijuana possession misdemeanor.
