Ex-Hokie Melvin Keihn takes to Twitter to announce move to Terps

Late last month Virginia Tech announced that Melvin Keihn was no longer a part of its football program. Less than a week later, Keihn has become a part of a new one.

Doing it the way all the cool kids are doing it these days, Keihn (pictured, No. 51) took to Twitter Tuesday to announce that he has decided to continue his education at Maryland and his football playing career with the Terrapins. The move is not all that surprising as reports around the time of his departure from the Hokies had him likely ticketed for the Terps.

Because of NCAA transfer rules, Keihn will be forced to sit out the 2015 season. He would then have three years of eligibility remaining beginning in 2016.

Keihn was a four-star member of Tech’s 2014 recruiting class, rated as the No. 16 outside linebacker in the country; the No. 4 player at any position in the state of Maryland; and the No. 226 player overall according to Rivals.com. As a true freshman Keihn played in 13 games, with most of that action coming on special teams.
