Jayhawks lose two linemen, including one likely starter

And just like that, an already-thin offensive line at Kansas has been further depleted.

Wednesday, first-year head coach David Beaty announced that a pair of sophomore linemen, Joey Bloomfield and Junior Visinia, are no longer playing members of his Jayhawk football program. Bloomfield has decided to retire from the sport of football but will remain with the program in an unspecified capacity, while the reason or reasons for Visinia’s departure are not known.

The departure of the latter, though, could be the most costly.

As a true freshman last season, Visinia started the final three games of the year at one of the guard positions. He exited spring practice as a likely starter along KU’s line, specifically at right guard.

Bloomfield had not seen the field during his two seasons in Lawrence, although, because of the painfully-thin depth along the offensive line, he was projected as at least a contributor in some type of rotation.
