Texas A&M will wear all-black uniforms on Halloween vs. South Carolina

The Texas A&M Aggies will be going into total darkness when it takes the field against South Carolina in an SEC crossover match-up this Halloween. The alternate uniform from Adidas will feature a black helmet with a black Texas A&M logo on the side, with the logo taking up much of the side of the helmet (as if anyone will be able to tell from the stands or on TV unless shown close up).

This is not the first time the Aggies have scrapped the home maroon for the darkest shade imaginable, although it is the first time Texas A&M has gone black from head to toe. The Aggies unveiled a black alternate look back in the Johnny Manziel days, and this year’s version of the total darkness look will mimic the previous design for the most part. The helmet will be darker though and will feature a black face mask instead of the one previously used with the signature school color.

I have generally been opposed to all-black alternate uniforms, but I tend to be more accepting of the alternate look when it happens to fall on Halloween. It would have been cool to see Texas A&M pair their black uniforms with an orange helmet and black logo, but I suppose that is why I am here behind the keyboard and not in the design studio mocking up alternate uniforms.
