Position isn’t the only thing Braxton Miller is changing

Ohio State’s Braxton Miller will without much doubt be one of the more intriguing players to follow around this season, whether by drone or just through the miracle of television. If you are looking for him on the playing field at any point though, you will not see Miller wearing his familiar No. 5. He has changed uniform numbers.

Miller is switching to No. 1 this season in a move that he says is representative of a new era.

“I just want to make a new beginning, a new era for myself. Rocking No. 1, I feel like this is me now. One and only.” -- Braxton Miller

Hey, whatever motivation works for you.

Ohio State previously had two players wearing the No. 1. Safety Eric Smith will likely continue wearing the number on defense. However, wide receiver Johnnie Dixon will be wearing a new number in order for Miller to take over No. 1 on offense. Dixon will be the one giving up the uniform number, and he will be taking over the now vacant No. 5.
