Ex-Wolverine Dennis Norfleet officially lands at Tuskegee

Exactly one week after Dennis Norfleet‘s name was omitted from Michigan’s roster, it has reappeared at a football program much further south. And much lower on the college football rung, for that matter.

As had been rumored for the past couple of weeks, Norfleet will continue his collegiate playing career at Tuskegee University in Alabama, as reflected by his spot on the team’s online roster and his bio on the team’s official website. Norfleet is enrolled in classes at the school and is already taking part in team meetings.

Because the Golden Tigers play at the Div. II level for football, Norfleet will be eligible to play immediately in 2015.

Back in mid-May, reports surfaced that Norfleet had been dismissed from the Wolverines football program. A day later, UM clarified that Norfleet had been suspended, not dismissed, with additional reports intimating that the issue or issues were related to academics. A couple of days later Norfleet apologized for… for whatever it is that’s going on in his life that’s led to the uncertainty.

Late last month, Norfleet was given permission to speak to Tuskegee about a potential transfer. Around that same time, Jim Harbaugh stated that there was “a plan in place” for Norfleet’s return to the Wolverines.

Norfleet is UM’s all-time leader in kick returns and kick return yards
