Diddy says he is banned from UCLA football practices

Sometimes having a known celebrity hanging around the practice field can generate buzz for a program, but UCLA has decided to part ways with Sean “Diddy” Combs. That’s what the music star said today on a local morning radio show according to The Hollywood Reporter.

As I know right now I’m not allowed,” Diddy said when discussing whether or not he was allowed back at UCLA practices.

Last month Diddy was involved in some form of altercation with UCLA strength and conditioning coach Sal Alosi. Reports suggested Alosi was attacked by Diddy after he took exception to how the strength and conditioning coach was working with his son, Justin Combs.

“I think there’s times when you have to just communicate and find out what’s going on and be by your children’s side,” said Diddy. “At the end of the day it’s just about communication to me. I went there to communicate. I can’t speak about anything else that happened.”

And he didn’t speak about anything else that happened. When shown a kettlebell, Diddy reportedly shied away from discussing the incident. Instead, he stood firm on having his son’s back.

“You have to be there for your kids 110 percent,” Diddy said in the radio interview. “As a father or a mother anybody can relate to if you feel like you have to go and straighten something out for your child.”

Who knows if he really needed to step in to protect his son or not. However, strength and conditioning coaches are known to get in player’s faces routinely. This is how they drive players to improve and get better. Did Alosi cross a line? Maybe he did, maybe he didn’t.

Whatever the case may be, UCLA asked for the case to be dropped and Diddy did not face any charges. So now everybody moves on.
