With the start of a new college football season drawing near, the tension is tightening in football camps across the country. Sometimes you need to kick things back a notch and unwind. That is exactly what happened yesterday at Arizona’s practice, which lasted just about 15 minutes.
Unbeknownst to the hard-working field crew that prepared the practice field or the entire coaching staff, head coach Rich Rodriguez pulled a fast one on everybody when he gave his players a brief pep talk before letting everybody know the rest of practice was canceled. The players, as you might expect, were ecstatic with the coach’s announcement.
As Rodriguez explained, there is enough time in fall camp to test the players and work on some skills, but sometimes a little extra rest is justified. Perhaps the day off helps Arizonaq in the long run. If nothing else, the players surely appreciate the gesture from their head coach and that helps keep everybody happy.
