A bit of a brouhaha broke out in Big 12 country Monday when Oklahoma media asked Bob Stoops about Baylor running backs coach Jeff Lebby‘s surprise appearance on Tulsa’s sideline during the Sooners’ game with the Golden Hurricane Saturday in Norman.
Art Briles stepped in to say it was all a big misunderstanding, calling Stoops to apologize Saturday night. “If I had been aware, that situation would’ve never happened,” he said. “When I found out, we alerted all the proper officials on both sides.”
Monday evening, Tulsa head coach Philip Montgomery said the allegedly innocent mix-up was all his fault.

Considering Stoops had already spoken with Briles and Montgomery when he called for the Big 12 and NCAA to investigate Lebby’s appearance (in-person scouting is against NCAA rules), it appears he isn’t buying the innocent mix-up routine.
