Sonny Dykes praises Cal QB Jared Goff because “he’s never stolen crab legs”

There’s a high chance California quarterback Jared Goff‘s name will be the first one called at next spring’s NFL Draft. He’s got the numbers (45 touchdowns against only nine interceptions since Nov. 23, 2013), the arm, the moxie and, according to his head coach, the character.

In speaking with Sports Illustrated, Cal head coach Sonny Dykes made his quarterback’s case for being the No. 1 overall pick by comparing him to the most recent No. 1 overall pick, former Florida State signal caller Jameis Winston:

“He does some stuff I’ve never seen anybody do before,” Dykes told the site. “He gets the ball out so quick. He sees things. He’s got all the stuff. Physically, he’s still real skinny, and when [NFL scouts] get around him, they’re going to go, Am I really going to give this guy $100 million? Other then that, there’s not one negative thing you can say about the guy. He’s humble, he’s hard-working and loves football. There’s not one single skeleton in his closet. He’s all the stuff that you want. He’s never stolen crab legs, any kind of that stuff. You don’t have to worry about all that with him.”

Yep, those crab legs are going to follow Winston around for a loooong time, aren’t they?
