Miami Hurricane player airlifted to local hospital ‘for precautionary reasons’

A scary incident during a practice session Wednesday morning has left one member of the Miami Hurricanes hospitalized.

In a press release, the school wrote that "[a] University of Miami football student-athlete suffered an injury during practice and was transported to the hospital for precautionary reasons.” Neither the player nor the nature of the injury were revealed in the release.

Citing a source, the Miami Herald reported that the unidentified player was injured in a head-to-head collision with a teammate. It appears that the injured player was airlifted to a local hospital for further evaluation/treatment.

Head coach Al Golden was expected to take part in the ACC coaches teleconference late Wednesday morning, but didn’t due to what the league described only as “a situation.”
