Cal likely to get RB Daniel Lasco back for Wazzu game

An already-potent Cal offensive could have another weapon at its disposal in Week 5.

While not saying it’s definitive, head coach Sonny Dykes fully expects Daniel Lasco to be available and play Saturday against Washington State. Lasco has been dealing with a hip muscle strain that’s kept him out of the last two games, wins over Texas and Washington by a combined seven points.

“Lasco’s good. He practiced all week. I would expect him to play unless he doesn’t feel good,” Dykes said. “We’ll warm him up and see how he feels. He’s felt good all week.”

Lasco led the Golden Bears in rushing last season with 1,115 yards. After rushing for just 14 yards on five carries in the opener against Grambling State, the senior ran for 123 yards in the win over San Diego State in Week 2.

With Lasco sidelined, junior Khalfani Muhammad ran for 164 against the Longhorns. Sophomore Vic Enwere then ran for a team-high 84 yards against the Huskies.

Through four games, the pass-happy Bears -- Jared Goff is ninth nationally in passing yards and sixth in scoring tosses -- have four players who’ve rushed for at least 100 yards each.
