Trevon Boykin’s 4-TD 1st half helps TCU hammer Texas at half, 37-0

Before the game TCU head coach Gary Patterson said they have beaten better teams with less. It did not take time for TCU to back that statement up, as the Horned Frogs ambushed the Longhorns for 30 points in the first quarter. TCU leads the Longhorns 37-0 at the half.

TCU quarterback Trevone Boykin threw three touchdowns in the first quarter, with Josh Doctson and KaVontae Turpin combining for all four touchdown catches from Boykin by the end of the half. Turpin also added a touchdown thrown by TCU running back Shaun Nixon. Turpin’s late first-half touchdown came after Texas missed a field goal.

CU’s defense, which was torched last week by Texas Tech, has tightened up this week against Texas. Texas has 139 yards of offense after one half of play, with more than half of that coming on the last offensive possession of the half for the Longhorns. That drive ended with a missed field goal attempt, the second of the half for Texas kicker Nick Rose.

The way this one is going, TCU should be easily on its way to another win, and questions about the defense may be silenced at least for one week.
