Ex-Michigan QB Russell Bellomy leaving UTSA, too

For the second time in less than nine months, Russell Bellomy has decided to leave what was at the time his college football home.

A UT-San Antonio spokesperson has confirmed that Bellomy is no longer a part of Larry Coker‘s football program. No reason was given for Bellomy’s in-season decision.

Bellomy was the Roadrunners’ backup quarterback. He appeared in three games this season, completing 4-of-10 passes for 39 yards.

In late January, Bellomy announced on social media that he would be transferring from Michigan. Less than a month later, it was confirmed that the graduate transfer had decided to finish out his collegiate career at UTSA.

Bellomy, a three-star member of the Wolverines’ 2011 recruiting class, played in six games during his time at UM, completing 4-of-23 passes for 46 yards and four interceptions. Three of those interceptions came in a 23-9 loss to Nebraska in October of 2012, a game in which he was forced into action because of an elbow injury to starter Denard Robinson.

Unless he returns to UTSA, this departure effectively ends his career at this level.
