Miami AD eyeing end of year to make evaluation on Al Golden

Some fans, especially the banner-flying ones, may be ready to get rid of Al Golden in the here and now, but a decision on his future in Miami doesn’t appear to be on the immediate horizon.

Prior to what’s a huge game for 3-1 Miami against ACC and in-state rival Florida State, UM athletic director Blake James chatted it up with the assembled media. Not surprisingly, the conversation turned to Golden’s future with the Hurricanes.

Specifically, would James make a move if the ‘Canes were embarrassed by the ‘Noles Saturday night in Tallahassee? At least publicly, James isn’t going there.

“As I said from the very start, we’ll look at everything at the end of the year and make an evaluation,” James said according to the Miami Herald. “Again, I think the thing you have to look at is if you lose tonight how many games do you have left? [What if] you win all the rest of your games? That’s why you always have to evaluate at the end of the year.”

The heat on Golden seat’s was cranked up a week ago this past Thursday with an embarrassing loss to Cincinnati. While it still left the ‘Canes at 3-1 on the season, the manner in which they performed, particularly on offense in a limp second-half effort, allowed the grumblings for Golden’s ouster to grow louder.
