Tide player takes blame for incident Bret Bielema said ‘got blown out of catastrophic proportion’

One of the more bizarre incidents of the 2015 season appears to have run its course.

During Saturday’s Alabama-Arkansas game, members of both teams got into a verbal spat near the Razorbacks sidelines, with head coach Bret Bielema interjecting himself into the situation. The Tide’s Cam Robinson was ultimately flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct after Bielema feigned getting shoved by the player, resulting in Bielema dancing a jig for seemingly drawing the flag.

The SEC decided against any type of punitive measure for the head coach, adding that Robinson wasn’t penalized for any type of contact with Bielema. Bielema said on his teleconference Wednesday that the incident “got blown out of catastrophic proportion.”

During Nick Saban‘s turn on the SEC call, the Tide head coach said Robinson accepted responsibility for what took place.

“His thoughts were, ‘Hey, it’s my responsibility. I got blocked. I got up and pushed a guy and whatever happened from then would have never happened if I had not been more emotional and had more personal discipline,’” Saban said. “I just talked to him about it. I asked him what he thought and he said he thought it was his responsibility, so I didn’t even look at it.”
