Les Miles: ‘I’d be surprised’ if Jalen Mills doesn’t play vs. Florida

While Florida seems to be falling apart off the field, the Gators’ opponent in Week 7 could be getting a surprise boost on it this weekend.

During a press conference Wednesday night, Les Miles stated that he’d “be surprised” if Jalen Mills didn’t play in No. 6 LSU’s key SEC game Saturday against No. 8 UF. The star defensive back sustained a fractured fibula midway through summer camp and has missed the first five games of the 2015 season.

If the safety does return as Miles believes, he’s expected to be in the starting lineup.

“Jalen Mills practiced the whole week,” the head coach said. “I’d be surprised if he didn’t play. He was pretty good. The thing is, he was never in a cast, constantly working out, everything he could work out while rehabilitating his leg. I think he’ll see the field.”

Mills has started all 39 games in which he’s played during his time in Baton Rouge.
