Starting LB on ‘leave of absence’ won’t be returning to TCU

A player on an indefinite break from TCU has apparently decided to make it a permanent one.

In a Facebook message posted Wednesday, Mike Freeze (pictured, No. 34) revealed that he will not be returning to the football program. Freeze apparently harbors no ill well against anyone connected to the team as he stated simply that the reason for his departure is that TCU wasn’t a good fit for him.

“I made some great friends at TCU and I believe our friendships will last forever,” said Freeze on the social media website. “I’d also like to say that I have the upmost (sic) respect for Coach Patterson. It just turned out that TCU wasn’t a good fit for me. I wish the Frogs the best.”

There’s no word as to where the Graham, Tex., native may transfer.

Freeze started TCU’s opener against Minnesota, but that would be his first and only action with the Horned Frogs. Less than a week later, Freeze abruptly took what was described as an indefinite leave of absence.

He was an early enrollee who took part in spring practice this year after signing with TCU as a three-star recruit.
