Injuries to Paul Perkins, Isaako Savaiinaea described as ‘not good’

We noted very shortly after UCLA’s romp over Cal that the win could prove costly on the personnel front. In the aftermath of snapping a two-game losing streak, Jim Mora confirmed as much.

In the first half, the Bruins lost leading rusher Paul Perkins to a knee injury. In the second half, leading tackler Isaako Savaiinaea was carted off with what appeared to be a leg injury.

In his talk with the media following the win, Mora was asked about the extent of the two injuries. Suffice to say, the head coach sounded decidedly pessimistic.

“Not good. They’re not good,” the coach said.

The exact nature of the injuries and how much time, if any, either misses is not yet known. An update could be available at some point this weekend as both will undergo further testing to determine the extent of the injuries.

Losing one for any length of time would be significant. Losing both, after already watching key contributors Myles Jack, Fabian Moreau and Eddie Vanderdoes go down with season-ending injuries, would be a crippling blow.
