WKU will be down its top TE for LSU game

Earlier today it was revealed that LSU would be sitting a pair of defensive starters for today’s game against Western Kentucky. As it turns out, their opponents will be at less than 100 percent on the offensive side of the ball as well.

Tyler Higbee sustained a sprained knee in WKU’s win over North Texas last Saturday. The standout tight end hasn’t practiced at all this week, and was thought to be unofficially out throughout the past few days.

Higbee’s absence became official when he was spotted on the field prior to the LSU game in his street clothes leaning on a pair of crutches.

The loss of Higbee is a significant one for a Hilltopper team looking to pull what would be a monumental upset in Death Valley.

Higbee is current third on the team in receptions (31) and receiving yards (462) for the pass-happy ‘Toppers. Even more vital, he’s Brandon Doughty‘s safety blanket on third downs and in the red zone as evidenced by his team-leading six receiving touchdowns.
