Foot injury may sideline Gators WR Antonio Callaway for WLOCT

A recently-suffered injury could keep Antonio Callaway from partying this weekend.

The Florida wide receiver sustained a foot injury during practice this week leading up to the Georgia game. While Callaway has yet to be ruled out for the World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party, and one person close to the player told the Palm Beach Post that the injury is “minor,” his status for Saturday remains up in the air and he could very well be a game-day decision.

“We’ll kind of see what happens there,” head coach Jim McElwain said, “but we’ll get that report [Wednesday night] or [Thursday] and see what’s up.”

A true freshman, Callaway is tops on the team in yards per catch (19.2), second in receiving yards (308) and tied for second with a pair of touchdown catches. His 16 receptions are fourth.

While McElwain refers to his precocious freshman as a “top-notch SEC receiver” already, he does have one minor complaint.

“I am going to teach him eventually how to eat a peanut butter and jelly sandwich with the crust on. Not having to cut it off,” the first-year UF coach said.
