GaTech losing long-time DT starter Adam Gotsis for rest of season

Georgia Tech’s underwhelming 2015 season, coming off a 2014 division title, has gotten a little more disappointing.

On the first play from scrimmage of Tech’s loss to Virginia this past Saturday, Adam Gotsis sustained what was thought to be a significant injury to his knee. Unfortunately for the player and the program, the initial prognosis was correct as Paul Johnson has confirmed that the defensive tackle will miss the remainder of the 2015 season.

The injury also means that Gotsis’ collegiate career has come to an end.

“He was playing at a high level and being the leader of the defense and all that,” the Yellow Jackets head coach said. “I’m more disappointed for him than anything, but he’s got a great attitude. He’s going to bounce back. He’s ready to get rehab going and get better.”

Gotsis, who has started 36 straight games, currently leads the Yellow Jackets in sacks with three. His five tackles for loss are third on the team, while his 31 tackles are fifth.
