Beavers dismiss WR Datrin Guyton

A wide receiver with talented on-field promise for the future has seen that future, at least at Oregon State, come to a premature end.

OSU confirmed earlier this week that Datrin Guyton has been dismissed from the football program. The only reason given was violating unspecified athletic department and team rules.

“I wish it wasn’t this way, but it is that way,” Andersen said according to The Oregonian. “I’m excited for his future when he decides where he wants to go, and I’m here to help him. I’m not excited that he’s not with us. He is a good kid. It’s just, it is what it is.

“That’s really what I have to say on it, other than the fact that I am going to help him get to his next spot, because I think he can be successful. Kids make mistakes. That’s where we’re at.”

Guyton was a three-star member of the Beavers’ 2014 recruiting class coming out of high school in Texas. After taking a redshirt as a true freshman, Guyton caught 14 passes for 178 yards this season. Those totals were third on the team heading into Week 11.
