Second-leading receiver leaves Yellow Jackets

Yes, Georgia Tech employs a run-heavy offense, to say the least. Still, what passing “attack” the Yellow Jackets do take to the field has taken a hit.

With three-quarters of the season already in the book, Micheal Summers abruptly decided to leave the Tech football team at some point coming off the bye this past weekend. No reason was given for the redshirt junior’s wide receiver’s unexpected decision.

Just said he didn’t want to play anymore,” head coach Paul Johnson said in explaining his view of the development.

Through nine games, Summers was second on the team with 12 receptions (Ricky Jeune leads with 20). His 178 receiving yards were third while his two receiving touchdowns were tied for third.

This season, Summers had started seven of nine games. He had started 19 games in two seasons entering 2015.
