Everett Golson to get the start for FSU at QB vs. NCSU

Even as he was cleared medically, Everett Golson didn’t see the field in Florida State’s loss to Clemson this past Saturday. This coming Saturday, however, Golson will get another opportunity under center.

Thursday evening, FSU confirmed that Golson will start at quarterback against North Carolina State. Golson started the first seven games of the season before sustaining a concussion in the Oct. 24 loss to Georgia Tech and sitting out the Syracuse win the following week.

Sean Maguire started both the ‘Cuse win and the Clemson loss. In the former game, Maguire lit up the Carrier Dome with 348 yards through the air and three touchdowns. Against much stiffer competition the following week on the road, though, he completed just over 50 percent of his passes for 164 yards, no touchdowns and an interception.

There has been some speculation that Maguire has been dealing with an unspecified injury coming out of that game, although the program has yet to address his availability as Golson’s backup. According to head coach Jimbo Fisher, however, Maguire’s health is not the reason for the move back to Golson.
