Gators’ Jon Bullard ‘highly questionable’ for Gamecocks game

It seems highly unlikely Florida will have the anchor of its defensive line for its upcoming game this weekend.

Jon Bullard sustained an unspecified injury to his arm as UF clinched the SEC East for the first time since 2009 with a Week 10 win over Vanderbilt. Monday, head coach Jim McElwain wasn’t overly optimistic that the defensive tackle would be healthy enough to play in the Week 11 game against South Carolina that will serve as the Gators’ regular season conference finale.

Wednesday, pessimism was still present as McElwain labeled Bullard “highly questionable.” The door hasn’t been completely slammed shut, though.

“He was able to take some reps, worked in some new looks and stuff,” McElwain said. “We’ll see where he’s at [Thursday]. We’ve got obviously some time between then and now.”

Bullard’s 13 tackles for loss are tops on the team and third in the SEC. The senior has started 21 straight games the past two seasons, and 31 in his Gator career.
